Peter Hurley
Managing Director
Peter joined the Valad Board in 1997 as Joint Managing Director until 2004 when he moved to Managing Director, a position he held until 2006. After spending two years establishing Valad’s European platform, he has resumed his position of Managing Director in August 2008. Before joining Valad, Peter held senior positions at Lend Lease in a 10 year career that included establishing their funds management operations in Paris, London and Singapore. Peter has an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New South Wales.

Stephen Day
Executive Director
Stephen Day established Valad in 1995 alongside co-founder Barry Wynne. Stephen was Joint Managing Director until 2004, when he was named Executive Chairman, a position he held until August 2008. He now holds the role of Executive Director with focus on business strategy and development, both at Board level and as an Executive. Prior to Valad, Stephen worked at Lend Lease for 10 years in development and funds management. Stephen has a Degree in Economics and Accountancy from Macquarie University and is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Jeff Locke
Chief Executive Officer - Asia Pacific
Jeff joined Valad in June 2007 and as Chief Executive Officer, has full executive responsibility for leading the Group’s Australian and Asian operations. With previous leadership roles at Bankers Trust and Macquarie Bank over the past decade, Jeff has experience across property, financial, and corporate advisory markets. Starting his corporate career as a chartered accountant in 1985 at Price Waterhouse, Jeff's experience also includes being founding director of Pacific Capital Group, a corporate and project finance advisory firm. Jeff holds a Bachelor of Arts (in Accounting) from The University of Canberra.

Martyn McCarthy
Chief Executive Officer - Europe
Martyn has been with Valad since early 2003 and has held roles in Australia and Europe. In his current role as Chief Executive Officer in Europe, Martyn has full executive responsibility for leading the Group's European Operation. For the 15 years prior to joining Valad, Martyn has been involved in various facets of real estate in Australia, the USA and Europe, including six years at GE Real Estate where his role included structured finance, joint ventures and portfolio acquisitions in Australia and New Zealand. Martyn has a Bachelor of Business in Land Economics from the University of Western Sydney.

Jennifer Lambert
Group Chief Financial Officer
Jennifer joined Valad in early 2003 as Chief Financial Officer after preparing the Investigating Accountants report for VPG's IPO. With Valad’s international expansion, Jennifer is now Group Chief Financial Officer, responsible for operational and strategic finance, accounting and tax. Jennifer was previously a Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers, working in Transaction Services specialising in the property sector and working on capital raisings, structuring and due diligence on acquisitions. Before this role, Jennifer worked in PricewaterhouseCoopers' Audit and Business Advisory Services division where she was involved with a number of major Australian listed companies.

Nicki Garrett
Group Head of Funds Management
Nicki is Valad’s Group Head of Funds Management having led the Asia Pacific funds business since she began in mid 2006. Nicki is responsible for the fund product development, distribution and marketing as well as overseeing each fund’s continued progress. Over the past 10 years, Nicki has experience in domestic and global investment banking and equity capital markets. Nicki has a track record of successful capital raisings and mergers and acquisitions transactions in Sydney, London and Asia. Prior to joining Valad, Nicki had positions with Macquarie Bank, ABN AMRO and Patersons Securities Limited. Nicki has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce (with Distinction) from the University of Auckland.

Chris Carroll
Group Head of Legal & Risk
Chris began at Valad in mid 2004 and since that time has held senior legal, corporate and transactional roles. Chris is now Group Head of Legal and Risk and is responsible for the legal and compliance functions including company secretarial. He is also responsible for the negotiation of many of Valad's corporate transactions. Prior to Valad, he held senior legal and management positions at Lend Lease and Principal Global Investors in Australia ans Asia, where he was responsible for corporate acquisitions and disposals. Chris has experience in large property transactions, mergers and acquisitions as well as general management. Chris has a Bachelor of Law (Honours) from the University of Liverpool.

Rebecca Thompson
Group Head of Corporate Affairs
Rebecca is responsible for all facets of stakeholder communication and has led the Group’s Corporate Affairs department since her appointment at the beginning of 2006. Rebecca’s 15 years of experience in the property and finance industries includes senior analyst roles at Citigroup and Credit Suisse, markets analyst with media group Dow Jones and in the US leasing/property acquisitions market. Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney and a Diploma of Applied Finance and Investments from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA).

Stephen McBride
Head of Valad Capital Services - Europe
Stephen is responsible for leading Valad's VCS business in Europe, and has been with the Group snce 1998 holding senior leadership positions in finance including Finance Director for the European business. Stephen’s career in property and corporate finance spans 30 years. In his last 10 years he has focused corporate structuring, debt work outs for financial institutions, preferred equity investment and joint venture structuring. Stephen is a Chartered Certified Accountant and holds a Higher National Certificate in Accounting.

Didier Tandy
Head of Property - Europe
As Head of Property, Didier is responsible for all strategic aspects of property acquisition, management, value-adding, development and sale throughout our European platform. Prior to joining the Group in 2000, Didier was a Director of Hemingway Properties and has over 25 years experience in property development and investment trading at private companies, listed companies and institutions. Didier holds a degree in Mathematics and Statistics from London University.
